We build brands rooted in people. Starting from real understanding — research before design — we walk with makers from the first sketch to the long road of a brand. We believe good design makes things more like themselves, and that design only moves people when it begins with them.

From a studio into an ecosystem. We want to be the place where makers connect Taiwan with the wider world — where ideas, grounded in people, travel and become real.
Our story
We come from industrial design, and crossed over into brand — carried across by design thinking, a way of working that begins with people. For a decade that work also took the form of a school, an education experiment we called AKHO. In 2026 it all became a studio of its own: TOUKAPTA.
TOUKAPTA is the 400-year-old name of my hometown — Madou, in Tainan — recorded in Dutch documents from when the land belonged to the Siraya, one of the Austronesian peoples. The Austronesians set out from Taiwan and travelled south: to the Philippines, the Pacific, and beyond. Carrying the name to the Philippines, where that lineage still lives, feels like a kind of homecoming.
Beneath the studio there is a longer search — to understand those roots, the way a people relate to land, sea, kinship, and origin, and to let them become a foundation that design here can draw from. Not by borrowing symbols, but by reconnecting to a lineage. It is a slow search, and we share it, piece by piece, in Perspective.
